CITS Computer Integrated Thermal Spray System software

Part identification

The part identification page allows the operator to locate and select which part to process. The user can enter a known part number or click on the "part select" folder push button to display a sortable list of all entered parts.

Along with each part entered in the Progressive Surface Computer Integrated Thermal Spray (CITS) system is a part picture and a gantry robot motion program. The picture for the highlighted part is shown. On robotic systems, when the part is selected by the operator, the associated part program is automatically sent to the robot controller and made active. Documentation such as torch selection, setup description, fixturing requirements, and user specific data is also shown or entered on the part identification screen.

Each part can have multiple optional motion control or surface process functions defined. This feature is particularly useful in thermal spray maintenance operations where only certain portions of the part may need to be coated rather than the entire part. The operator simply toggles each function or surface on or off with the checkboxes at the bottom of the screen. This data is then passed to the robot controller which will only run those selected functions or surfaces. Once the required data is entered on this screen, the operator simply pushes the "start cycle" push button to begin operation.
