Automotive Robotic Head and Block Plastic Media Blast System

Share

Each plastic media cleaning cell consists of a large acoustical enclosure with two plastic blast stations. A robot located outside the cabinet loads aluminum blocks or heads onto the spindle at the first plastic blast station. As the part rotates at this station, 8 pressure nozzles mounted on a vertical gun mover perform general cleaning of the part. After general cleaning, the internal robot carries the casting to the second blast station which consists of a series of 9 fixed pressure nozzles. The casting is manipulated in front of nozzles by the robot to clean the internal passages. When cleaning is complete the abrasive blast nozzles are used to blow out the passages and blow off the exterior.
