We are pleased to announce that Kent VanEvery has joined Progressive Surface in the role of Thermal Spray Application Engineer. Kent studied materials science and engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana from August 1998 – February 2009, earning a Bachelors of Science in May 2002, a Masters of Science in December 2005, and a Doctor of Philosophy in May 2009. During this period he conducted research on the processing of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, casting defects in nickel-based superalloys, computer simulations of the vacuum arc remelting process, and the production and characterization of ceramic coatings deposited from nanometer-sized powder via the suspension plasma spraying process. Prior to joining Progressive Surface Kent completed a fellowship at the Thermal Spray Research Lab (TSRL), which is part of the Sandia National Laboratories complex in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This fellowship included projects involving the coating processes of powder flame spray, wire flame spray, and air plasma spray. Kent’s addition further strengthens an already experienced thermal spray applications group at Progressive. This group’s charter is to apply the 100HE high energy plasma torch to advanced coating applications including suspension and solution sprayed nano-materials.
